I Ketut Soki was the first student of Arie Smith, one of the senior well-known Balinese artists.
His style is considered new and contemporary, though his paintings most often deal with traditional subjects like village ceremonies and celebrations.
He loves to show a multitude of local people busily involved in ordinary tasks and rituals. His other trademark is using bright colors that he transfers with skill from palette to canvas, and illustrating in meticulous detail the minute human forms that crowd his canvas.
